• Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD): Children and adolescents diagnosed with ADHD can have a range of symptoms. Some individuals have difficulty with attention, focus, and distraction. Others can have difficulty staying in their seat, frequent fidgeting, and impulsive behavior. A combination of both inattentive symptoms and hyperactive/impulsive symptoms can be present as well. An evaluation of a possible ADHD can include an assessment of cognitive functioning, tests of sustained attention, and rating scales.
  • Academic Assessment/Learning Disabilities: This type of evaluation may be appropriate if there are ongoing concerns about skills with reading, mathematics, and/or written language. An evaluation of a Learning Disorder will include a test of cognitive functioning as well as assessment of academic achievement.
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder: Individuals on the autism spectrum present with impairment in social and communication skills. Other concerns may include difficulty with transitions and change, extremely strong interests, sensory issues, and repetitive behaviors. An evaluation of a possible Autism Spectrum Disorder may include assessment of cognitive functioning, adaptive skills, social/emotional/behavioral concerns, and academic achievement, if needed.
  • Emotional/Behavioral Assessment: Assessment of anxiety, depression, and/or behavioral challenges may help guide treatment. Interviews, and rating scales and questionnaires are used for this type of assessment.
